How to Be Happy This Holiday Season

December is always a time for reevaluating life. It is so easy to forget all of the great things you’ve accomplished, especially as a new year approaches. Being grateful for all that you have is the first step to attaining more in life.

Before you pen your lofty new year’s resolutions try this:

Get a jar. I love Mason jars because they’re clear and easy to customize. Choose whatever jar or receptacle you like!

Write. Grab a piece of paper or some colorful sticky notes and write down something you are thankful for. You can do one or two little notes daily or a bunch all at once depending on how you feel. Start with the simple things – “another day on Earth” “my health” “good food to eat” – then get more specific. Think all the way back to the beginning of the year, what little things have you achieved that you may have forgotten about? Put it all in the jar.

Reflect. Continue to fill your jar for as long as you’d like – I’ll be making mine for a whole year. Periodically, spend time pulling a few of your entries to reread and really feel the gratitude for those moments. As 2016 draws near, you don’t want the things you didn’t do to eclipse all of the great progress you’ve made. When you’re having a bad day, get down on yourself, or simply want to feel awesome go to your gratitude jar and read some of your notes! It’s also a great way to remember what was important to you at the time and how far you’ve grown.

No matter where you are in your life journey, you have lots to be thankful for. Let’s remember life as it was and not how we wished it would be. #LiveYourBestLife.

xx
